One of the last knitting projects I completed in 2009 was the Swallowtail Lace Shawl by Evelyn Clarke.
The pattern has both written directions and charts, is very clear and easy to follow with no errors, and is free. It has the "rest row" after each patterned row making any errors very easy to spot and making it knitting that I was able to do while doing other things, like watching T.V. and listening to books. And it has nupps which I enjoy doing.
I used the bombyx silk in the abalone colorway that I knit up last summer.
I love the way this turned out; blocking made such a huge difference! I also made a point of working in the ends as I went, so once it was blocked it was done.

I'm actually in the process of knitting this shawl right now - as my first shawl for the 10 shawls in 2010 group on Ravelry! I kind of wish I'd used a more solid yarn though...I feel that the variegation in the yarn I'm using takes away from the beauty of the lace.
How did you manage the nupps? No matter how loosely I work them, they just seem to not wanna work for me, which is why I frogged back and am opting for beads instead. Seed beads though. I think on a shawl this delicate, larger beads wouldn't look right...
Beautiful work, and great color choice! I only hope mine comes out half as nice! Who knows? I might like the variegation in the yarn better when it's finished! =D

Before I started knitting the Triangular Summer Shawl from Knitted Lace of Estonia, I had heard from several people that it took some time to get the hang of doing the nupps.
